2019: We Owe Nobody Any Apology, Buhari Must Re-Contest In 2019 -Gov El-Rufai, APC Govs | CNR

President Buhari flanked by APC Governors 

Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, has said they have no apology whatsoever to anyone over their endorsement of President Mohammadu Buhari for second term in office ahead of the 2019 general election.

The Governor made the declaration when seven governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC visited President Buhari at the State House in Abuja.

Those present at the meeting are Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano and Abubakar Bello of Niger state.

Also in attendance are Simon Lalong of Plateau, Ibrahim Geidam of Yobe and Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa State.

Governor El-Rufai who address newsmen at the end of the meeting said they were at the Villa because they are 'politicians', adding people are free speculate anything about 2019 election but he and other governors are interested in continuity and stability of the country.

"Those of us you see here today want the President to contest the 2019 election; and we have no apologies for that", El-Rufai said.

"We believe in Mr. President. We want him to continue running the country in the right direction. People can speculate about 2019; we have no apologies.

Mr. El-Rufai hinted that they, as first term governors, are also interested in continuity.

"Whether they are right or wrong is beside the point. Everybody is entitled to his or her opinion but we as governors, all of us here with the exception of Yobe Governor, are first term governors.

"We are interested in continuity and stability and we want the President to continue with that.

"Like our leader, Governor of Kano said, we just happen to be here by coincidence and we went to pray and decided to felicitate with the President and we feel satisfied that anything we see him, he is getting better", the Kaduna Governor said.
