APC's Sudden Adoption Of Restructuring A Mere Lip Service - PDP | CNR

Nigeria's leading opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) eventual acceptance of restructuring as 'merely paying of lip service to a matter of national importance'.

The PDP said that they are the author of restructuring in Nigeria and  cited the 2014 national conference report as proof of their determination to restructure the country, adding it has also directed their members in the National Assembly to immediately commence the process of initiating a Bill to address issues bordering on restructuring.

This was contained in a communiqué signed by PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus and the Chairman of PDP Governors Forum and Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose and  issued at the end of a joint meeting of the party's National Working Committee and its Governors Forum held Sunday February 4, 2018 in Asaba, Delta State.

The Peoples Democratic Party condemned the recent killings in some parts of the country and challenged President Mohammadu Buhari 'to come out clean on the herdsmen killings and address the Nation on how to end the carnage.

The communiqué read: "We strongly condemn the unabated killings across the country. We call on the President to come out clean on the herdsmen killings and address the nation on how to end the carnage. The President must responsibility on the protection of lives and property of Nigerians which is the most important of his responsibilities. We believe that the Federal Government's decision to set up a committee to address the issue of herdsmen killings is a pretentious approach to a matter that requires firm action and leadership by the President in line with his oath of office to protect all Nigerians irrespective of creed, tribe and political affiliation.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been the author of restructuring and this was better expressed in the Report of the 2014 National Conference. The All Progressives Congress (APC) as a later day convert of restructuring is merely paying lip service to a matter of national importance. However, we have mandated our members in the National Assembly to commence the process of initiating a Bill to address issues bordering on restructuring.

It also condemned in strong terms, what it described as a massive corruption going on in the management of fuel subsidy regime and commend their members and supporters for their unalloyed support, adding that the party will provide a level playing ground for Nigerians aspiring to elective positions on the platform of the Peoples Democratic party.
