Dapchi Visit: Red Carpet is for Grammy not Dapchi - Shehu Sani Attacks Buhari | CNR

The outrage sparked on social media following the emergence of a picture showing President Mohammadu Buhari smiling as he adjust his native attire on a red carpet on arrival at Dapchi to commiserate with parents of the kidnapped Dapchi schoolgirls has attracted the attention of a serving senator, Shehu Sani.

Senator Shehu Sani (APC-Kaduna Central) has joined those criticising President Buhari for acknowledging the grand reception in his honour during a visit to the Government Girls Science Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe state.

A total of 111 students were kidnapped and taken to still unknown location when Boko Haram Islamist terrorists attacked the school on February 19.

Senator Sani writing through his Twitter handle, said the school is not the right place to catwalk on red carpet.

He said that such show is for festive events like the popular annual American Grammy musical award or Oscars.

"A Red carpet should be for the Oscars or Grammy or Caines but not for Dapchi, he wrote.
