JUST IN: Trump Fires Secretary Of State Rex Tillerson | CNR

U.S. President Donald Trump Tuesday announced he had replaced Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with Central Intelligence Agency Director Mike Pompeo, bringing to abrupt end, the tenure of embattled Mr. Tillerson after a series of public rifts.

President Trump who announced the cabinet shakeup through his Twitter handle said CIA's deputy director, Gina Haspel will take the place the place of Mr. Pompeo at the intelligence agency.

President Donald Trump said the decision to sack secretary Tillerson was his personal decision, adding that Mr. Tillerson will be 'much happier now'.

"Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA would become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job. Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service. Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!", Trump twitted Tuesday.

Tillerson departure represent the biggest staff reshuffle in the Trump Cabinet since its inauguration, bringing to end the tension between the President and the 65-year-old former Exxon Mobil chief executive.
