We Speak Bad English Because We Only Hold ND, NCE Certificates Not Degree- Northern Npower Beneficiary Gives Reasons For Bad English On Social Media

The raging debate among Npower beneficiaries over poor English speaking and writing may not be coming to an end soon as a volunteer from the northern part of country, Sabiru Salihu, has given insight into why volunteers from the area speak and write bad English.

Salihu, a Sokoto state Npower volunteer explained that many of the Northerners who were posting bad English on social media were holders of National Diploma (ND) and the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) not Degree holders.

He said that university graduates from the Northern part of country are already employed in the public and private sectors and therefore are not Npower applicants or beneficiaries.

He further explained that this is unlike the Southern part of the country where about 80% of qualified university graduates are jobless and depend on Npower for livelihood and survival.

"But something that you people ignore or don't know about it,is 75% of northerners that Applied for N-power program are ND and NCE holders. Our graduates are employed already, (whether government or nongovernmental industries). Some of Northern graduates are considered it as even an insult for them to Apply for N-power program", Salihu said in a post on a social media platform.

Sabiru Salihu wrote:

We are getting much insult from our fellow southerners, some claiming that we don't know how to speak good English, some said that as a graduate we are forming ungrammatical sentences.... etc.

But something that you people ignore or don't know about it,is 75% of northerners that Applied for N-power program are ND and NCE holders. Our graduates are employed already, (whether government or nongovernmental industries). Some of Northern graduates are considered it as even an insult for them to Apply for N-power program.

Unlike Southern part of our Country, which on my own systematic investigation I realized about 80% of applicants from there are graduate with no any.

So plc, you can't compare someone that is graduate with ND or NCE holder,totally they are not the same.

To be frank and sincere, even me that is writing this post I have obtained only NCE certificate for now. So plc, do Justice for us,instead of insult.

No way, we can united ourselves if we are insulting each other, for example,southerners are looking down on me,did you think I can help one of them when he found himself as a guest, and he is seriously need help, I think even if I pretend to do so,eventually when I remembered that they are always look down on us,my mind will change.

So plc, our graduate are well educated, if you see any shortcomings it is from us(ND/NCE holders) via with us,and our level of education.
