2019: Youths in Kano Protest Buhari's Comment, Launches 'Operation Burning of Brooms'



The controversy trailing the statement by President Mohammadu Buhari that Nigeria youths are lazy illiterates who expects everything for nothing has taken a different dimension as some youths in Kano state have reportedly set brooms on fire to protest the President's comments.

Broom is the symbol of the All Progressives Congress, the ruling party on whose platform Mr. Buhari was elected President in 2015.

President Mohammadu Buhari had during a panel appearance with world leaders at the Commonwealth Business Forum in London, said that Nigeria youths sit and does nothing but expects everything from government.

Back home, the comment by the President is generating public outrage with many trending hash tags that have gone viral on social media, against the President's comment.

The report quoted one Ahmed Sani as saying that they burnt brooms to prove to President Buhari that are not lazy.

"We have to burn the broom because we are not lazy", said Sani who shared the photo on social media

"This evening we did Operation Burning of Brooms In Kano state ahead of 2019, Whoever that is praising Buhari for calling Nigerian youths lazy will face the same music.

"Buhari has killed himself with his own hands, Youths across the country will sacrifice even their last drop of blood to boot Buhari out from that seat. He is indeed shameless to call us lazy".

Sani urged youths in other states of the federation to emulate them by setting brooms on fire in protest to the President's comments and as a proof that they are not lazy.

"All 36 States of the Federation should replicate this from Us because, It's Operation Start Burning the Brooms Because We are Not Lazy" he said.
