Former President Olusegun Obasanjo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Comission, EFCC will commence the conduct of a "comprehensive and forensic probe" of former President Olusegun Obasanjo's $16 billion allegedly spent on power projects during his time as president.

The renewed interest in Obasanjo's power-sector expenditure came after President Mohammadu Buhari said earlier in the week that there was nothing to show for $16 billion a former president claimed to have spent on the power sector.

The source said: "We are looking into all the allegations and issues surrounding the project.

"We will conduct a comprehensive and forensic probe to ascertain the true status of all the projects". The Nation quoted the source as saying.
