G-111, NEAM Leaderships to Meet Over Future of 2016 N-Power Volunteers, 2019 Poll




Barring any last minute change of mind, leaderships of the two outspoken N-Power groups, G-111 for Permanency and N-Power Enhanced Advocacy Movement have concluded plans to meet over the future of 2016 N-Power beneficiaries.

The planned meeting is coming as the first batch of N-Power beneficiaries are marking their two years anniversary in the scheme. The beneficiaries were officially deployed in December 2016.

Speaking to CNR Nigeria on the planned historic meeting, both the leadership of G-111 and NEAM said the meeting was necessary at this time as it will give them the opportunity to look back at the journey so far, review the campaign for absorption into civil service and proposed enhancement programme and decide on the collective stance of N-Power beneficiaries on next year's presidential election.

Bolanle Abiodun, the National Publicity Secretary of G-111 told our correspondent in a phone interview that the meeting was initiated to form a united front in furtherance of their agitation for a better exit package for the first batch of volunteers through the proposed enhancement programme.

"We initiated the historic meeting to enable us form a more united front and speak in one voice. You know that we have been the mouthpiece of N-Power beneficiaries for a longer time. Many other groups had emerged and fazed away but we are impressed with the effort of NEAM. So we want to come together and iron out some issues.

"It may interest you to know that this November mark exactly two years since we officially join the scheme as the first batch of beneficiaries. So we want take stock, look back at the journey so far, review our agitation and perhaps come up with resolution that will shape the voting pattern of N-Power in next year's presidential election.

On his own part, spokesman of NEAM, James Obong told CNR Nigeria that they are happy to unite with G-111, who have been leading this agitation for long. He described the planned meeting as a testimony of the usefulness and effectiveness of their contributions to the agitation for better exit welfare package to the first batch of volunteers.

Ask the location and venue of the meeting, Obong said both groups agreed not to make the location a public knowledge for reasons best known to them, adding that a powerful resolution will be reached at the meeting which will be spelt out a communiqué.

On who they will direct every N-Power volunteers to support in next year's presidential election, the spokesman of NEAM said he was not permitted to speak on the matter until it is officially announced at the end of the meeting.

They urged volunteers to remain calm as they are determined ensure that they get better better as they exit the programme in no distant time through the proposed enhancement programme.
