Senator Sani Spoke for Every N-Power Beneficiary, G-111 Reacts to Shehu Sani's Comment on N-Power

Leading 2016 N-Power group, G-111 for Permanency has called on N-Power volunteers to critically analyze the statement credited to the Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, before abusing the lawmaker.

G-111 said that the statement when critically examined, was in tandem with the agitation by N-Power volunteers for absorption into civil service or a befitting exit package for beneficiaries rather than a politically motivated extension of time in the scheme.

Senator Sani had in a press statement on Thursday last week criticized both the Buhari and Jonathan administrations on the motives of their social intervention programs.

“The SURE-P program of the last administration and NSIP (N-Power) of this administration are not social intervention programs but political largesse dispensed for political goals.

“The two programs are aimed at throwing hands outs and crumbs to the masses with the aim of pacifying them and retaining their support for the political establishment and the ruling parties.

He argued that “SURE-P was a larcenous bread of corruption and N Power is a butter of social deceit", adding that “Nigeria’s poverty problems can’t be solved by a ration system of throwing peanuts.

“N-Power is a repackaged SURE-P program that only encourages the culture of social dependency on state handouts,” he said", the statement by Senator Sani read.

But reacting through a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Bolanle Abiodun and exclusively received by CNR Nigeria, the outspoken N-Power group called on N-Power volunteers nationwide to desist from joining issues with politicians but to critically examine issues from a neutral perspective, adding that such examination would help them understand that the Kaduna Senator meant well for every N-Power volunteer.

"Our attention has been drawn to the reactions of our colleagues in the N-Power Volunteers Corps, to the statement credited to Senator Shehu Sani in which he constructively criticized both N-Power and SURE-P of the present and last administration. We view the reactions of most volunteers as uninformed, unthoughtful and lacking in critical examination.

"We call on our fellow volunteers to reexamine the statement by Senate Sani to understand that the Kaduna Senator actually made a strong case a better and sustainable package for the teeming population of Nigeria jobless graduates. We must resist  from the temptation to join issues with politicians instead of looking at issues from a neutral perspective.

"Senator Sani's position is rather a big challenge for the government to have a rethink about it's decision to use N-Power volunteers and throw them back to the streets instead of taking advantage of our wealth of experience by absorbing us into the civil service or encouraging us for entrepreneurial exploits by giving us a befitting exit package.

"Volunteers must guide against those paid agents parading themselves as N-Power group. The measure concern of every true N-Power volunteers group should be the welfare of beneficiaries and their future instead of dabbling into politics like the fraudulent group called NEAM.

The group maintained that until government explain clearly, what it mean by N-Power Enhanced programme, it would not be right for volunteers to be excited, adding that "it was the same government that once promised them exit package but which no one talks about anymore today".
