Afolabi in Akure as Ondo N-Power Volunteers Endorse Buhari, Avoids Mention of Enhancement





Afolabi Imoukhuede, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation Tuesday visited Akure as beneficiaries of the Federal Government's N-Power Volunteers Corps in Ondo State  declared their total support for the second term ambition of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The beneficiaries who marched from Oba-Adesida road to Gani Fawahenmi Arcade Ground along Igbatoro-road in Akure campaigning for Buhari, were full of joy as they chant pro-Buhari songs.

They expressed gratitude to Buhari's administration for initiating the N-Power scheme, which according to them has helped in reducing unemployment through the creation of temporary job opportunities. 

The State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, who addressed the volunteers expreesed delight that the beneficiaries of NPower in the Ondo State were the first in Nigeria to openly declared and campaigned for Buhari second term. 

He urged themto take their campaign for Buhari's re-election to the nooks and crannies of the state. 

 He described the rally as the only way to say "Thank You" to President Buhari, who initiated this programme for the teeming youths in Nigeria. Akeredolu said "President Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo have fulfilled their promise.

"We must be grateful to Mr. President for this great gesture and the only way to say thank you to Buhari is to ensure, we talk to our parents, friends and siblings to cast their votes for Buhari by February 14, 2019 so that the President will take us to the Next Level", Governor Akeredolu said.

"When you invested in the youths, you have invested in the nation. We won't be tired. We did it in 2014, so we are prepared for the another race ahead of us. 

 "The current beneficiaries of NPower should not think about themselves alone. Others must must come next year, others will come 2020. How will they come if there is no continuity?, the governor queried.

Mr. Afolabi however, avoided making mention of the planned enhancement programme for the first batch of N-Power beneficiaries who two years duration in the scheme expired last month but were directed to continue with their duties in what look like extension of duration.

No date is given as deadline for the extension, but affected volunteers will continue to earn their monthly stipend while it lasts.

Also in attendance at the campaign rally were the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi among others.
