Police Parade Man Who Threatened To Rape Atiku’s Wife, Daughter
Augustus, aged 43, had also sent a message to the former vice president, threatening to blow his plane mid-air.
The Police claimed to have retrieved a mobile phone and SIM card from Augustus, which he allegedly used to send the life-threatening message to Atiku and his family. The exhibits were discovered to have been stolen from a lady.
Speaking during the parade of the suspect, Jimoh Moshood, Police Public Relations Officer, stated that Augustus was arrested while attempting to flee to Lagos in a bid to evade arrest.
Moshood also mentioned that the suspect had confessed to having committed the crime.
“During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and admitted that he resorted to the threat and intimidation when all efforts to extort money from the former vice president were unsuccessful.”
According to the Police, Augustus also confessed to having defrauded and extorted many prominent personalities, while posing as a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) agent.
The suspect, who is fluent in English, Ibibio, Russian and Portuguese languages would be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.
