Lion Of The East, I Urge You To Be Encouraged, Femi-Kayode Writes Nnamdi Kanu Over Army Invasion Of His Hometown

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu

Former Nigeria's Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has extended a message of solidarity to the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu over the military invasion of his hometown.

Men of the Nigeria Army had on Sunday September 10 2017 invaded the Afaraukwu Ibeku hometown of Mr Kanu, the Biafra separatist leader and alleged to have opened fire on unarmed youths injuring some of them.

Reacting to the incident, the former Aviation Minister Monday September 11 2017 urged the IPOB leader to be encouraged and remain true to his noble convictions.

"To the Lion of the East, my friend and brother Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, I have the following to say. They attacked your home and raided your community with their soldiers"

"Despite the provocation and brazen attempt to intimidate you and yours I urge you to be encouraged, to remain true to your noble convictions, to stand firm, to stay strong, remain peaceful and to continue to reject the idea of armed struggle knowing that you represent the hope and aspiration of millions".

Mr Femi-Kayode who noted that there is no greater crime than to unleash a nation's Armed Forces against it's own people in an attempt to stamp out free speech, said that seeking to oppress and strangulate the righteous shall not prevail.

"This is all the more so because the entire world is watching. Our victory will not come by the levying war, espousal of violence and armed conflict but rather through the painful veil and fiery furnace of suffering, passive resistance,self-denial, dedication, persecution and sacrifice", the open letter read in part.
