Anambra Poll: PDP Candidate, Obaze Picks Female Running Mate As Campaign Heats Up (SEE PHOTOS)

As the Anambra State Governorship election draws closer, The candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Oseloka Obaze has unveiled his running mate and deputy governorship candidate of the party for the November 18 gubernatorial election in the state.

The PDP deputy governorship candidate is Mrs Chidi Alexandra Onyemelukwe. Mrs Onyemelukwe is the first daughter of Second Republic Vice President, Dr Alex and Ekwueme. She is happily married to Dr. Okey Onyemelukwe of Nnewinchi, in Nnewi North Local Government of Anambra state.

Unveiling his running mate at an event held today Wednesday September 20, 2017 at the PDP secretariat in Awka, Mr Obaze said that Mr. Onyemelukwe was selected from 'a shortlist of very eminently qualified party faithfuls'.

"In compliance with the provisions of section 187(1) of the 1999 constitution (as amended) I, Oseloka Henry Obaze, after about three weeks of painstaking consultations with my family, the PDP hierarchy (both state and national), stakeholders in Anambra and beyond, the leadership of the Anglican communion, wish to  present formally to Ndi Anambra in particular and Nigeria in general, Lady Chidi Alexandra Onyemelukwu, my running mate for the November 18th 2017 Anambra State Gubernatorial election. She was selected from a shortlist of very eminently qualified PDP faithfuls.

Mr Chidi is a graduate of Law from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom and was called to the Nigerian Bar is 1990. She also bagged her Masters Degree in International Law and Diplomacy and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Lagos and Duquesne University, Pittsburgh in the United State, respectively.
