Varsity Students Return To Campus As ASUU Pledge To Call-off Strike Action

The students who were seen arriving at the school's main gate in a TRACAS bus Saturday September 9 2017 said their returning was in response to ASUU's pledge to to end the industrial action any time soon.

Students of the university who have been on their semester break since June 2017 were due for resumption on Monday September 4 2017.
One of the students who gave her name simply as Chinelo, who will be entering her 400 level when school resumes said she received the news of the proposed resumption with joy.
She said: 'I'm happy to return to school again. I've been away for so long undertaking my compulsory industrial training. I must say that I got the news of the proposed call-off with joy.

Another student who identified himself as Mekus said he had to return to school immediately following the planned call-off to prapare himself for the task ahead.
"We have been at home for over two months which was our normal semester break period. We were supposed to resume on September 4 but the strike action by ASUU members has delayed our return to school. I'm glad to be back to campus".
Public universities teachers in Nigeria under the umbrella of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had on Monday August 4 embarked on indefinite strike action to pressure the federal government to honour an agreement it had with Union 2009.
