Nigerians Are "Senseless" and "Stupid" For Criticising Pres. Buhari's Appointment Of Dead Men Into Government Boards - Sagay

The Chairman of Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof Itse Sagay has taken a swipe at those criticising president Mohammadu Buhari following the discovery the some dead persons were included in his recently released list of appointees into the boards of federal government agencies and paraststals, describing them as "senseless and "stupid".

Itse Sagay, a professor of Law who is currently the Chairman of Mr. Buhari's Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption was reacting to the fallout that greeted the recent appointments by the president.

The released list of appointees into federal boards comprised 209 board chairmen and 1,258 board members. About 9 of the those appointed were found to be dead men. Some others are ex-convicts and people indicted for corruption or of questionable character.

Several Nigerians have condemned the development and criticised Mr. Buhari for what many alleged to be the result of incompetence, tardiness and aiding official corruption.

The presidency has explained over the weekend that the list was initially compiled in 2015, but a series of delays beyond its control left it untreated by the president for over two years.

In an interview with Daily Independent published yesterday Monday December 1, 2018, Mr. Sagay said that such outrage currently trailing the appointments of some dead men into boards of agencies and parastatals of the federal government is unnecessary.

Mr. Sagay said: "The way I see these comments coming over the list,it is like Nigerians are looking for something to quarrel about. A list containing so many names under preparation for that length of time should not surprise anyone that some of them had died as at the time the announcement was made two years later.

"So to see that list and begin to quarrel about it seems to me a level of Senselessness that I cannot imagine. I regard their attitude as collective stupidity and evidence of idleness of mind. 

He went further to describe that Nigerians as "Lilliputians" who dwell too much on trivial matters.
