Speaking for the first time since the news broke, NYSC’s Director of Public Relations, Adenike Adeyemi, said in a statement on Monday that the service is working towards responding to the reports of Mrs Adeosun’s forged certificate.

While the statement noted that Ms Adeosun applied for exemption, it was however, silent on when the application was made and what decision was taken on it.

The brief statement signed by the NYSC Director of Public Relations read:

"Our attention has been drawn to the issue of the alleged forgery of an NYSC Exemption Certificate by the Honorable Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun.

Checking our records, Mrs. Adeosun did apply for an Exemption Certificate.

We shall investigate the origin of the purported Exemption Certificate in question

Thank you".
