Afraid Of Sack, N-Power Beneficiary Denounces Permanency Campaign, Explains Why They Started It

The threat of sack handed by N-Power to those leading the campaign for permanency of N-Power beneficiaries in the civil service at the end of their two-year volunteer duration is beginning to elicit responses as one of the campaigners, Kunle Fashola has publicly denounced his involvement in the campaign.

N-Power had on Thursday December 7, 2017 warned existing beneficiaries who are promoting the campaign for permanency and others extorting money from fresh applicants to desist from such actions as those involved will soon be exposed and dismissed from the programme.

In an apparent swift reaction to the threat of sack, Mr Fashola, A Kwara state N-Power beneficiary renounced his involvement, explaining that the intention was never to coerce the federal government into giving beneficiaries permanency status.

Fashola said: "I'm using this medium to denounce my involvement in permanency advocacy. And I want to make it known to everyone here that the aim of the advocacy is to dialogue with the federal government and make the FG see the economic and social benefits it will bring if the permanency is granted.

He therefore regretted that what was being done in good faith and for general good has been misconstrued, hence the need for immediate disengagement from such effort.

"But is now clear that we are now being painted with different aim and objective. So for this reasons and more I hereby denounce my involvement in the group. Thanks, wrote Mr. Fashola.

It should be recalled that N-Power beneficiaries in different states have been using any available opportunity to call on federal and state governments to consider retaining them in the civil service at the end of their two-year volunteer period.

"I have listened your message. As a servant, I will take your message to his excellency. Our governor is a supporter of youth empowerment. I am giving you my word that message will get him. We know that your services are needed and the governor is always concerned about youth empowerment and job creation. All you need to do now is to remain committed and dutiful at the place of assignment. Remember that structures are in place to monitor your behaviour at workplace.
