New Year Message: Reno Omokri Tackles Pres. Buhari, Says President Owe Nigerians Apology Not Blame Game

Reno Omokri

Staunch critic of President Mohammadu Buhari and former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has reacted to President Mohammadu Buhari's New Year message to Nigerians saying that the president should have apologize to Nigerians for the fuel scarcity in the country instead of looking for a scapegoat to blame for the ugly situation.

Mr. Omokri, American based Nigerian pastor of the Mind of Christ Christian Center, San Francisco California, United States highlighted some some key issues which according to him, should have dominated the president's New Year speech.

He said the president should have deemed it fit to render apology to Nigerians for the pain they suffered as a result of fuel scarcity throughout the Yuletide instead of shifting blames to oil marketers.

"Buhari"s New Year's speech should have started with apology for fuel scarcity not with blaming marketers. Then he should have talked of solutions not of dealing with those he thinks are responsible.

Mr. Omokri maintained that going by how long the fuel crisis has lasted in the country, it would have been appropriate for President Buhari to tell Nigerians what he has done to arrest the situation and not what he intends to do about it.

"Then, it should have included what he has done, not what he intends to do. And the best response to the names of the people in the board appointments list should have been accepting responsibility then apology. No need to blame state Governors. How long did it take social media to vet the list and spot the dead? 5 minutes. It was no one's fault but Buhari's, Omokri said.
