Oyegun Sabotaging My Presidential Assignment - Tinubu Cries Out In A Letter To Pres Buhari | CNR


The rancour between the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Bola Tinubu and the national chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun is becoming more overt as the former has written some top leaders of the party alleging that the later was sabotaging his presidential assignment of reconciling aggrieved party members.

President Mohammadu Buhari had few weeks ago, appointed Mr Tinubu to head a reconciliation committee with the mandate of reconciling aggrieved party members across the country, ahead of next year's general election.

But Mr Tinubu, in a letter in he copied to President Mohammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, accused Mr Odigie-Oyegun of working against the success of his assignment, TheCable reports.

Writing in the letter dated February 21, Tinubu complained that Oyegun breached the spirit of their discussion by "taken it as your personal ambition to thwart my presidential assignment in this key states" by for instance, rushing to Kogi state and inaugurating officials "parallel to the officials already heading the state chapters of the party".

He said: "disappointment greeted me when I discovered that you have swiftly acted in contravention of the spirit of our discussion. Instead of being a bulwark of support as you promised, you position yourself to active opposition of the goal of resuscitating the progressive and democratic nature of APC.

Tinubu pointed out that why Kogi, Kaduna, Kano and Adamawa states were subjects of his discussion with Oyegun as being the places affected by serious party issues, that Oyegun, however, has "taken it as your personal ambition to thwart my presidential assignment in this key states"

"While this may place in significant affinity with those parallel officials you handpicked, this machination suggests no improvement in the welfare of the party in Kogi or at the national level, Tinubu said.

He also accused Oyegun of trying to "undermine my mandate by engaging in dilatory tactics for the most part. When forced to act, you do so in an arbitrary and capricious manner".
