Buhari Granting Amnesty to "Defeated" Boko Haram Members - Reno Omokri | CNR

Reno Omokri, aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has lampooned the President Mohammadu-led federal government over their plan to grant amnesty to the dreaded Boko haram terrorist group, which it claimed to have defeated.

Omokri was reacting to the statement by President Buhari that the federal government was ready to grant amnesty to members of the Boko Haram Islamist sect who are ready to drop their weapon and embrace peace.

President Buhari had while receiving school girls who were kidnapped from their school in Dapchi, Yobe state by Boko Haram, said that "while further efforts are being made to secure the release of every abducted citizen of Nigeria, the government is ready to accept the unconditional laying down of arms by any member of the Boko Haram group who shows strong commitment in that regard.

"We are ready to rehabilitate and integrate such repentant members into the larger society".

But Mr. Omokri wondered why a President who claimed to have defeated Boko Haram would make such offer to members of dreaded Islamist sect, after he requested the National Assembly to approve his plan to borrow $1 billion to fight them.

He questioned the rationale behind the President's decision to grant amnesty to Boko Haram after the group he claimed to have defeated abducted 110 schoolgirls from Dapchi, Yobe state and received huge ransom in exchange for their release.

Omokri said in a post on his Facebook account: " You claim you defeated Boko Haram, then try to borrow $1 billion to defeat the defeated Boko, then the defeated Boko Haram kidnap (allegedly) and release #DapchiGirls, you announce ceasefire with the defeated Boko Haram, following which you offer the defeated Boko Haram amnesty.

"Your minister of information then goes on air to preside a defeated Boko Haram of showing ‘goodwill’. Is your head spinning yet? Just look at the inconsistencies of the Buhari administration with regards to the anti terror war", the for special assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan said.
