Gombe State Beneficiaries Slams Senator Goje, Launches 'N-Power Campaign Poster' for Buhari's Re-election | CNR

The controversy trailing the call by the Senator representing Gombe Central Senatorial District, Danjuma Goje, for the federal government youth empowerment programme, N-Power to be scrapped for not being felt in his state of Gombe, has attracted another backlash from volunteers in the state.

The volunteers explained that Senator Goje, as a former governor of the state and serving Senator, should instead of raising unnecessary alarm, find ways of confirming and sustaining the programme in state.

In a statement signed by the State Npower ambassador, Muayiwa Abdulhamid, the volunteers said they found it necessary to respond and set the record straight, because the senator's comments are not only untrue and baseless but stands against thousands of less privileged Nigerians who are now benefitting from the federal government social investment programmes.

"Our findings revealed that out of 446 beneficiaries from Akko Local Government Area, about 30% are from his electoral ward. Also, some primary schools in Kashere are currently enjoying the SIP's school feeding programme.

"With this record and fact, Goje's comments were not only shortsighted and myopic, it is extremely unacceptable and deeply disappointing", the beneficiaries told journalists during a press conference on Wednesday in Gombe.

In a related development, Npower beneficiaries in Gombe state on Wednesday snubbed Senator Danjuma Goje and launched a 2019 campaign poster with Npower inscriptions for President Mohammadu Buhari's reelection bid.
