PDP Reacts to Buhari's Second Term Declaration | CNR

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has reacted to the formal declaration on Monday, by President Mohammadu Bahari that he would run for second term of office in the 2019 general election.

The Party described the declaration by President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term is an internal affairs of his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a brief statement on Monday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan said that President Buhari's declaration was a "mere show of interest".

The leading opposition party said Mr. Buhari's declaration only qualified as one of the aspirants that will run for the office next year.

"The declaration has placed President Buhari among the ranks of aspirants seeking to be the President of the Federal Republic, effective May 29, 2019.

"Until he becomes the candidate of the APC, we will not spend precious time on his mere show of interest".
