Following Saturday nomination of the Minister of Mines and Steel Development Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as the All Progressives Congress, APC governorship candidate for the July 14 guber election in Ekiti State, the State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has reacted, describing Mr. Fayemi as a walkover.

Governor Fayose thanked supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State for choosing Mr. Fayemi as their candidate for the July 14 governorship election in the state.

"I thank the APC for giving Ekiti people a candidate they love to vote against at all times".

He however advised the Minister not to celebrate his "pyrrhic victory" as resounding defeat is already awaiting him in the July governorship poll in the State.

"He should expect to suffer worse defeat compared to that of 2014.” Governor Fayose twitted.

Mr. Kayode Fayemi, the current Minister of Mines and Steel Development was a former Governor of the State whose re-election bid failed after he was defeated by the now incumbent Governor, Ayodele Fayose in 2014 despite enjoying incumbency as sitting Governor then.

By his victory at the APC primary, Mr. Fayemi will face the State deputy governor and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate for July 14, Kolapo Eleka and other candidate in the guber race.
